The first incarnation of the Hall of Fame Reverb pedal from TC Electronic hit the market and took off like crazy, as it should have, delighting reverb fans around the world with its small size and huge stature. A couple years after that, a surprise release peaked everyone’s interests once again – the Hall of Fame 2 had arrived. Building on the awesome foundation established by its big brother, this new version took it up a notch, or two, providing some new features but keeping the original tonal quality and lush sounds in tact. We’re going to check out this second helping today, if you all don’t mind….
For all the hubbub about the original HOF, check out our review here. Chances are you’ve played on of these somewhere down the road, so let’s focus on the new features. First and foremost, there’s a new Shimmer algorithm, which pitches your reverb up an octave through each feedback loop. Room, Hall, Spring, Plate, Church, Mod and Lo-Fi complete the modes you can select from, and there are 3 dedicated TonePrint slots for you to save custom signature effects, via the TonePrint app.
Another new feature to the HOF2 is the footswitch – it’s been updated to an innovative, pressure-sensitive switch, and the addition of the groundbreaking MASH technology turns this switch into a pressure-responsive expression controller. This is a big deal, as it makes the effect controlled solely by how much pressure you apply to the depressed footswitch. The Hall of Fame 2 also boasts true OR buffered bypass, and analog-dry-through signal and Stereo Ins and Outs.
You know it, you love it: now, take the next step into the Hall of Fame world with this second production model, and conjure up some truly realistic reverberation sounds with ease. The high-quality components and affordable price point make it an effect that will fit into any rig and be sure to provide years of enlightenment and inventive creation.
