The BD-2 Blues Driver delivers the creamy, yet crunchy sound associated with great blues guitar. This popular pedal provides instant access to the kind of warm overdrive and emotive distortion usually reserved for 30-year-old tube amps. With the JHS Blu-Drive mod, however, the BD-2 becomes very transparent and extremely amp-like in its response and character. You will notice a huge range of gain that reaches from clean boost to all out fuzz with the headroom that you need. The “Fuzztain” switch gives you a compressed fuzz tone that is as unique as it is useful. They also fine-tune the pedal with high quality components for smooth highs, solid bass response and low noise.
After the mod on this pedal, it sounds just incredible. Big range of tones, from a nice, clean boost to some serious overdrive, JHS makes this little box into a monster. I use it for a variety of sounds, and you can dial in the crunch just by using your guitar’s volume control. I usually like to keep the Tone knob at about 12:00, but by adjusting the Gain and Level, you can really achieve a wide range of crunchiness. Warm, fat overdrive in a classic Boss enclosure, an excellent combination of 2 companies and their visions.
