The Supercollider Distortion/Fuzz we reviewed from Earthbound Audio a little while back was an absolute beast in a box, so we were hoping for more of the same when we opened up and plugged in the Centurion Fuzz. Well, turns out our dreams came true, as this thing also falls into the “beast” category, but with more fuzz focus and wooly, gritty tones.
The Centurion is a 2-transistor fuzz, which has been built utilizing bc108 and bc109 silicon transistors to pump out big and aggressive sounds. Level and Fuzz controls dial in the main sounds here, with loads of volume and gain for you to thoroughly enjoy. A Mass control takes the Centurion to another fuzzy level altogether, giving off tones from a crisp and defined fuzz all the way up to a monstrous, thick wall of fuzz, and everything in between. There’s a 3-position High Cut filter toggle switch, too, which gives you three separate filter modes to work with, and help dial in the specific sound you’re on the prowl for.
Flashy red enclosure, big, fat control knobs and more tones than you’ll know what to do with, the Centurion Fuzz will throw you into the thicket of all the stoner rock riffs you’re gonna want to play. Great range, built with great components and pedalboard-friendly, this pedal has got it all. Thanks so much to Earthbound Audio for another contribution to our site, these guys are making some really great stuff, so be sure to head over and check out their pedal lineup…after you watch the demo video below, of course.
