We were recently introduced to a pedal company in New Jersey called Pusher Pedals, and had the pleasure to review one of their first gear offerings, the Dirty Darling. In chatting with them some more, we came to find out that they were in the process of making a 2-In-1 pedal, combining their first two flagship pedals (the Dirty Darling plus the Leap of Faith Boost), and we could not have been more excited. The result is a fantastic distortion machine with a ton pf power, and is today’s featured pedal, the Bad Dancer Fuzz/Boost.
Being that this is a prototype, cool graphics and text haven’t been introduced, making this a one-of-a-kind pedal, which I always dig. The top row of controls are marked with a single letter on each, but it wasn’t too tricky to figure out which one did what. Volume starts us off, and there is loads of this throughout this pedal, so don’t worry about your ability to cut through the mix. Fuzz is up next, and features a nice range of tones, from a slight overdriven sound to a balls-out wall of fuzz (especially when paired with the boost). The Tone controls likewise has a nice range on the sonic spectrum, from low, gritty, stoner fuzz to higher-pitched, squealing, gnarly, nasty fuzz tones, and a wide sweep of sounds in between those two extremes.
The Boost section has its own footswitch, as well as its own level control, enabling you to dial in how much extra power you want or need when you kick it on. Use it in conjunction with the left hand Fuzz side, or as a clean boost to liven up your guitar’s original tone. There’s a small toggle switch present here as well, and lets you decide the order the 2 effects go in (Fuzz > Boost or Boost > Fuzz), further enabling some exacting specifications to each user’s setup.
Not sure exactly when the true release date is for this killer 2-In-1, but I’m sure glad we got to test it out in the developmental stage, and look forward to seeing how it’s all going to come together. If I were you, and you were interested in this sweet piece of gear, I’d keep my eyes peeled on the Pusher Pedals website, for updates and release info for the Bad Dancer.
