There are space-saving pedals for your pedalboard, and then there are the pedals from Henretta Engineering. How they even got inside this box to wire up the Bluebird Fuzz is beyond me, but the result is fairly astonishing. To be able to pack this much sound and dirt into an enclosure that measures 2″ x 2″ is an incredible feat, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed reviewing.
The controls are simple: none. Well, that’s not entirely true, but at first glance, it may seem that way. One bypass switch is all that shows on the exterior of the Bluebird, and for good reason: there’s not surface area to fit anything else, really! There are a few controls inside, however, allowing for a little bit of tweakability if needed. There’s a trimmer inside the Blubird that controls the overall output volume, as well as a switch that adds in some brightness if you’re playing through a darker-type amplifier. That’s it. Controls are done!
I plugged this one in straight out of the box, and have felt no need to open it to adjust anything. The fuzz tones are thick and chewy, and this thing is a wonder when working with your guitar’s volume knob. Turn it almost all the way down, and a sweet overdriven sound comes oozing out of your speakers; crank it up, and a wall of fuzz obliterates the eardrums of anyone within 200 feet…or so. There’s a great range in between as well, making for lots of fuzzy experimentation.
The folks over at Henretta Engineering must use really, really tiny tools, or all have really small hands, because they are packing a wallop into the smallest pedal enclosures I have ever come across. I’d like to thank Kevin and everyone at Henretta for letting us rock out with this little blue beauty – they’ve go an extensive lineup of pedals that I guarantee will fit anywhere on any pedalboard, make sure you go check and see what they have for you today!
