1981 Inventions Professional DRV w/ DeLorean

Since its release 7 years ago, the DRV Overdrive Distortion from 1981 Inventions has been at the top of many “best of” dirt pedals’ lists, and for good reason. The circuit trapped inside these beautiful enclosures has a wide range of tonal bliss to explore, even with just three knobs present. Today, we’re looking at a slightly different version of this effect, one that uses some different diodes for a sound that’s reminiscent of a certain silver horsie-style unit. Looking great and sounding great, the Professional DRV w/DeLorean might just be the best version yet…

This is not a re-brand. This is just a tribute. The DeLorean w/ Flux Capacitor digital graphic was created by Karen Schierhorn (BIG EAR pedals). Using NOS 1N34A germanium diodes, are these the magical ones? You decide. Is this a mythical pedal? This is an extremely “professional” variation of the DRV, and the first variation to offer this spec. Just to be clear, this will not make the DRV circuit sound “more like another pedal”, but is a great sounding variation, and Matthew at 1981 likes to think of it as a nice little homage. Straight class. This is only a tribute.

The enclosures used here are raw aluminum, allowing each one to wear in uniquely over time. Hand assembled in Nashville, TN, this version comes with a limited edition hand drawn DRV manual, and runs on standard 9V power. This is the third version of the 1981 Inventions DRV I have owned, and it is far and away my favorite, pushing any amp right into the sweetest of spots with extreme ease.
