Flangers can be a bit tricky, can’t they? Some are too extreme, some are too mild, some won’t do jet engine sounds, some are a bit uncontrollable…when you get a flanger pedal, you better be up for some experimenting, ’cause they can be vastly different from one to the next. Today’s effect, the Korg FLG-1 Flanger, is an under-the-radar sort of rarity, one that doesn’t pop up on a lot of lists, but holds its own with some of the more well-know classic flangers. Big time range here, kiddos, this is a fun one, to be sure…
After perusing the interwebs, it seems there’s not a ton of information on this pedal, except that it was made in Japan. Four control parameters (Intensity, Speed, Manual and Feedback) are about what you’d expect from a good flanger, and they play well together to create vastly differing cornucopias of sound. Moving easily from a lighter, chorus-infused tone to oscillating, pulsing, off-the-wall flanging, the range to experiment with is HUGE. Chill modulation? Check. Intense chorusing? Check. Outer space adventures for days. Check.
In our demo below, we really try to dig in and see what the Korg FLG-1 Flanger is truly capable of, and the results are pretty damn stunning. If you like to twist knobs and create over-the-top sounds that will likely scare your neighbors, you just might want to hunt one of these down and snag it for your rig. Wish I had a little more info for you all, but we’ll just let the demo do the talking in this case, hope you enjoy it!!
