Whitman Audio Decoherence Drive 1

First impressions of pedals have always been a big thing for me – as a graphic designer, I love seeing the myriad of different patterns and aesthetic layouts that different companies come up with. Today’s pedal, at first glance, looks sophisticated, classy and like it is hiding some real sonic secrets. Turns out, my initial thoughts were pretty spot on, as the Whitman Audio Decoherence Drive brings gorgeous sonic power to your rig, with a long list of options and experimental prowess on tap…

The Decoherence injects a universe of unique saturation into your musical arsenal, all without needing to pass a final in quantum entanglement. You can easily craft your own signature sonic sound with a wild array of gain structures, blending cascaded stages, and dual independent gain controls. Intuitive gain controls and sweet mid-range peaks ensure you’ll not only be heard, but stand out in the mix with no flub at higher gain.

A high cut control tames the highs from the airy 10kHz region all the way into the upper mids, while the low-cut control reduces the low bass to keep higher gain sounds tight, interacting with the first gain stage to dynamically alter the amount of gain produced in the stage. A lone toggle switches between NOS germanium diodes for a thick compressed and textural distortion, or NOS silicon for a tighter and articulate distortion with more clean headroom. Gain A uses ultra bright UV LEDs in a soft clipping configuration, allowing a range from subtle compression to thick distortion. Gain B is a “Hard Clipping” distortion tuned to provide anything from light texture to tight, articulate distortion.

Constructed with top-notch components and design inspired by flight controls of the early space era, the Decoherence Drive pedal will turn heads on stage and last longer than your latest bass player (ha). It looks good, it is clearly built well and it sounds amazing – basically everything you could want from and effects pedal. This is our first foray into the world of Whitman Audio, and I can’t wait to check out more of their gear. Be sure to hit up their website for more info and ordering, and check out our demo below and on our YouTube channel – cheers!
