We love a new release from the crew at Chase Bliss, and are excited as always to bring you their latest creation today. A unique and out-of-the-ordinary pedal (like most of theirs are), the Clean Creative Compressor takes everything you thought you knew about compression and completely flips it upside down. The basics are there, of course, and sound great, but once you start diving into this one, the sonic possibilities are, once again, seemingly endless…but, can compression really be fun? The answer is, unequivocally, YES.
Clean is a studio-grade compressor you can turn on its head and push beyond the expected. It was built to bring the exploratory energy of distortion to the clean performer, from the touch sensitivity of an overdrive to the unwieldy response of a fuzz. Tasteful, musical nuance, tied to your hands.
Some of what you can do with Clean:
– Go beyond compression into tube-like sag
– Interact with a dynamic EQ that responds to your playing
– Use physical modeling to introduce organic instability
– Explore a softer world with two swell modes
Clean began its life as a question: Can clean be as fun as dirty? Developed slowly and through a variety of experiments, Clean explores the wild side of compression and brings the interactivity of distortion circuits to a clean signal. Two stages of compression, 100% analog, and true stereo. Everything you need to complete your sound. Create a more lively and interactive version of your instrument, while keeping its core character intact – an always-on enhancer with performance tricks on the ready.
Dial-up the Dry blend for bass and drum-friendly compression. Use the sidechain input to pump and pulse in time, use Dusty mode to introduce some bite and grit. Use true stereo I/O for mixing and live performance. Clean is a portable and creative finisher with independent response on each channel, for a polished and animated stereo mix.
Clean is also a very sophisticated compressor, packed with features rarely found outside the studio. Each stereo channel includes both a compressor and a limiter, for two stages of the most natural and musical compression possible.
Some other handy things:
– Adaptive attack and release that adjust to your playing
– A sidechain input for syncing with external instruments
– Emphasis filters for cassette-style noise reduction
– A noise gate for removing hum and unwanted noise
The manual for Clean will give you all the ins-and-outs needed to get started with this wonderful machine, and there’s more info on the Chase Bliss website as well. Below, we dive into the basics, experiment with a ton of different sounds and options, and try our best to give you a slight idea of what this thing is capable of creating. I’ve always loved compression, but the Clean Creative Compressor takes the idea and runs right through the galaxy and into the far reaches of space, in all the best ways. Thanks to Chase Bliss for letting us check this one out, enjoy the demo and grab on of these for yourself!!
