The Rain is my favorite pedal on my board. It is weird and does such a wide range of things that I always find a new use for it. The Rain is a super tweaked clone of an EchoBender by Polish Power Pedals, the best of the best of small pedal builders.
The settings include modulation, delay, two different decay settings, the wet effect and amount of dry guitar, as well as “feedback/shit” as labeled in the manual Nathanael put together. Oh my goodness, this pedal does it all! Turn down the delay and the feedback up just a hair – you have a beautiful overdrive, or turn up the delay and feedback and it becomes a wild bit crusher. However, what I use the pedal for the most is a slow echo with a little bit of grain. And then in a crescendo, I move to the second decay channel with a longer and noisier decay that makes noise that reminds me of This Will Destroy You. Nathanael, the owner of Polish Power Pedals, wrote on the manual, “you might hate it the first 15 minutes, but keep trying. There are A LOT of sounds in this thing. Keep rockin.” And the sounds that I get out of this keep surprising me and impressing me. I love this thing!
The sounds that it makes are awesome, and did I mention that Nathanael hand painted Totoro on the pedal???!! If you are looking for a small builder that will make rad, creative pedals that are one of a kind (he refuses to make two identical pedals), then Polish Power Pedals is where it’s at. You will be working with an actual person who legitimately cares about people. Great pedals, cool art, and a good person – what more do you want?
