Today’s pedal marks FIVE local pedals IN A ROW, after we saw some gear from Asheville Guitar Pedals and Asheville Music Tools – that’s a first here at Pedal of the Day, and we love supporting all things Asheville. Following the legacy of all those cool old music repair shops who built their own pedals, Heyday Music collaborated with Cascade Pedals to create our Heyday Fuzz. Wanting it to live up to its “heyday” namesake, they took two classic circuits and tied them together with modern considerations to serve classic tone in a pedalboard-friendly way. Fuzz Face + Rangemaster = YES. Now add an order switch, treble/full boost, bias knob for the fuzz, and New-Old-Stock silicon transistors, you have a tonally versatile fuzz-boost combo for the studio or stage. Leave the boost always on, set the gain specific to your pickups, and then get fuzzy to taste.
The Fuzz Face side is the highly sought after Cascade Pedals Gnomon Fuzz, which features Telefunken BC107C Silicon transistors, The Rangemaster side is the Cascade Pedals Vintage Boost, a 2n222a Silicon boost with treble and full boost settings. All parts are vintage and/or premium parts including Tropical Fish, WIMA, Phillips, and Sprague capacitors, Allen Bradley and Ohmite carbon-composition resistors and Alpha pots.
