It’s always amazed me how tone-shaping a one-knob effect can truly be – the simplicity seems like it might not have a lot to offer, but that’s usually not even close to the case. Which brings us to today’s pedal, the oddly-named beAst beWst Full Range Boost from EEIDI FX (Everyone Else Is Doing It), the brainchild of Will from Third Age Amplifiers. This hand-wired boost has a killer range, great tone and will give your sound some instant POP…
The beAst beWst is a point-to-point, transistor-based, full-range boost pedal with slight bass attenuation to tighten things up. It’s just an LPB-1 clone, but with a wider EQ range. Will saw the amazing PTP designs that Markus Reeves was putting out, and thought this would be a perfect circuit to try a hand at point-to-point construction. This particular pedal led to the final PTP design iteration of this circuit utilizing spiral power rails, with the heart of the circuit suspended inside the spiral.
This particular pedal was also dipped by Monarch Enclosures, and it looks even cooler in person that in the pics. Featuring true bypass switching, the PTP construction uses high quality components like CDE Orange Drop capacitors, Vishay BC 2 watt resistors, and Cliff jacks for low noise and maximum longevity. High quality parts and great sound usually go hand-in-hand, and there’s no mistaking that here with the beAst beWst Full Range Boost. Be sure to check out Will’s Reverb.com shop for this and his other top notch creations, and don’t sleep on our demo video below….cheers!!
