Every effect we’ve investigated from Studio Daydream Handmade Pedals has been high-quality, both in build and sound, and we’re always ready for more gear from these guys. Today, we’re looking at the latest version of their JRM-OD Overdrive, V5.0, which is based on amp sounds from the 1960’s blackface period. The 2-band EQ and custom 3 mode switching of the clip diodes can be used to create a wide range of sounds – lots of fun with this one…
On the surface, the JRM-OD may seem like just another 4-knob overdrive pedal, but there’s more than initially meets the eye to this one. The toggle switch provides several different clipping mode options (DOWN:Symmetric, CENTER:Normal, UP:Asymmetric), while the addition of the small Saturation knob helps add presence back into the mix. These two not-oft-found controls, paired with the Bass and Treble EQ section and the Volume and Gain knobs, makes for a versatile drive that can suit any musical needs.
With their usual true bypass switching and sleek-looking metal enclosure, Studio Daydream Handmade Pedals has once again created a unique and marvelous drive.
