Most of us have, unfortunately, been affected in one way or another by cancer. Research and development of new ways to combat this killer are the only way we can rid the world of it forever, and today’s pedal set seeks to help fight that fight. The Electric Love Pedals Fuzz, Overdrive & Delay are being sold as a set, with ALL proceeds going to fund breast cancer research. Let’s see what creator Ben Carlin has to say about this endeavor:
“What you are looking at is my attempt to find solace in troubled waters. In 2015, while climbing the career ladder and riding a positive wave, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 36.
Surgeries, treatment, and reconstruction ensued. Thanks to a fantastic medical team, adjuvant treatment, and a positive attitude, she did great and is still here today. Two years later, in 2017, our then 4-year-old daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Again, thanks to a fantastic medical team, surgery, research, and a positive attitude she did great and is doing great. We are incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses and cancer researchers for all they do every day. Cancer research is the key to saving more lives and ultimately to a cure for cancer.
After my wife’s diagnosis, I turned to music for a positive outlet. This only increased after my daughter’s surgery. I started building guitars, amps, and pedals. I found that this brought me a great amount of joy.
In 2022, I wanted to blend my love of music and creating pedals with a campaign to raise money for cancer research. I’ve seen firsthand the power of research and the importance of it. Because of changes in the tax laws, I could no longer do my original idea of selling them on my personal reverb page. I had to create a company to sell them, so Electric Love was born.
100% of all profits from this limited run of pedals will go to Play for P.I.N.K. This is a fantastic organization and I cannot say enough about their work. For clarification, I will not make any money on these pedals; I do not take a salary or a commission. Profits are defined as all monies after the cost of all of the parts and materials to build the pedals or any other product, the packaging materials, shipping, reverb percentages, tax, tax prep and overall cost of business . For those that purchase the pedals or other merchandise, I will provide you with a cost breakdown at the end of the run for transparency.
These are a limited run of hand built pedals. They are professionally powder coated and UV printed. They are hand-built by me. I took special care in the creation of this project because of its extreme importance to me.
If you have any questions or would like a specific number in the series please let me know. During Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, I will donate the profits.
The pedals run off of a negative center 9 volt negative center dc power supply. The overdrive pedal can run off 18 volts if you want more headroom. Please keep in mind that location in your chain and type of power being applied as well as input type will have an impact on the sound as with all pedals. Thank you so much for taking the time to look and I hope you enjoy the pedals as much as I do!”
Besides the donation aspect, these pedals also sound fantastic. The Fuzz is based off the triangle variant of the Big Muff, the Overdrive features a Bluesbreaker-type circuit and the Delay is Deep Blue influenced – these three simple pedals can form a pedalboard by themselves, instantly giving your sound a shot of much-needed mojo. We run through each one in the demo below, as well as pair them all together, to give you an idea of some of the sounds you can easily achieve. Head to the Electric Love shop on Reverb.com now to purchase one of these limited edition sets – you’ll be supporting a great cause and getting some great gear at the same time!
