We live in an effects pedal world that can sometimes become saturated with run-of-the-mill 2- and 3-knob units that don’t necessarily stand out from the crowd. Today’s pedal, the VVco Pedals Sports Almanac Theremin, is the exact opposite of this, bringing new and exciting sonic ideas to the table. With just 2 knobs and 1 switch, it isn’t overly complex, but it will leave your head and ears spinning…
The Sports Almanac, as any fan of Back to the Future can see, is a highly-detailed, true-to-scale unit based on the movie book, housed in a durable metal case. With simple Volume and Blend knobs, this fuzz/theremin hybrid has a HUGE spectrum of sounds waiting to be explored. There’s an Octave switch here as well, adding another flavor into the mix. This set even includes keys you can use to physically open up the back of the book to check out the internal circuitry – pretty genius.
As for the sounds available, it’s much easier to send you to our demo video below then try to put into words the tones on tap here. The Sports Almanac itself can house almost any effects that VVco Pedals makes, including Fuzz, Distortion, Boost, Reverb, Delay, Tremolo and Compressor (this Theremin is pretty rad, though). Check out the demo and hear this unique beast in action, and be sure to head to the VVco Pedals website for more info, as well as more incredible pedals. Check out our reviews and videos for some of their other wonderful creations, too, like the DeLorean Analog Delay, Dark Knight Distortion, Pickle Fuzz, Kitty Chorus Vibrato, Time Box and AfterLife Distortion Fuzz!
