Minotaur Sonic Terrors Saturnine Fuzz

Thick, heavy, doom-y fuzz is a blast to create with, and today’s pedal provides those qualities in spades. The Minotaur Sonic Terrors Saturnine Fuzz features three control knobs and one 3-way mode switch, providing a myriad of sonic flavors from which to explore and sculpt your sound. This one was an instant classic as soon as we plugged it in – let’s run through what it can do…

Inspired by the classic Boss FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz, the Saturnine is named after the killer Electric Wizard track of the same name. About as fuzzy and nasty as you can get, it has a 3 position rotary switch where you can switch between 2 Fuzz tones and a third Boost one. Fuzz Mode 1 offers a mid-saturated fuzz with a sympathetic higher octave, while Fuzz Mode 2 purports a heavily scooped fuzz that’s perfect for bass and downtuned guitars. The third mode is a Boost that’s nice and loud, with a tinge of breakup as the Gain is increased.

As for the other controls, the Level knob controls the volume of the effect, while the Gain knob controls the amount of fuzz (use this to set the output in Boost mode as well). The Bass and Treble controls are active for all three modes, allowing you to fine-tune the fuzz’s EQ sections. Saturnine is housed inside a vintage style large, Heavy Duty, die-cast aluminum enclosure, professionally powder coated (black) and screen printed (silver), using some of the finest materials in the market, along with Lead-Free (Sn96,3 Ag3,7) solder.

Big? Yes. Loud? For sure. Powerful? Absolutely. Classic fuzz dripping off of every note you play? YOU GOT IT! The Saturnine Fuzz leapt to the top of our fuzz list the minute we plugged it in, and we’ve been enjoying it ever since.
