We love pedals with a lot of controls, and today’s featured effect showcases this in fine fashion. From the moment you gaze upon the Olsen Interface Warspit Distortion, you’re both frightened and intrigued, which can become a perfect combination. With no labels, seven knobs, 5 switches and two stomps, this is an experimenter’s dream box…
The golden knobs give you a wide range of sounds and tones to test out and discover, containing Volume, Fuzz (x3) and Fuzz Noise (x2) parameters. Just sitting down and mixing these up is a treat in and of itself, producing a nice spectrum of distortion gooiness that oozes from your amplifier. The toggle switches consist of 2 Boosts, which are always welcome, along with 2 Cuts. These two will take Fuzz 1 or Fuzz 2 out of the signal, respectively, as well as up the volume a bit. The last yellow switch controls the overall tone and monetary switching – one setting is quieter and more gated, the other is louder and more open. The Momentary switch toggles back and forth between these two, giving you either a burst of boost or a quick cut, for even more experimental options.
This is the first effects we’ve tried from Olsen Interface, and if it’s any indication of where this company is headed, we’re on board 100%. Pedals with simpler control sections can be fun and extremely useful, no doubt, but there’s something about this many sonic options that just puts a big smile on our faces, and puts big tones into our sound.
