HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! Well, almost, but it’s close enough, right? Today’s spooky, end-of-October-themed pedal comes in the form of a vintage circuit, modernized for today’s differing climates. The Vaderin Pedals HP-X Harmonic Percolator takes after the original unit from Interfax, but with a couple differences to ensure years, maybe decades, of wonderful, fuzzy playability…
The HP-X has been designed to capture the original circuit’s signature even-order harmonics saturation, without compromising stability or volume in the process. Sticking to the basics, rather than adding on a ton of new knobs and switches, the HP-X offers two traditional controls, Harmonics (distortion) and Balance (volume), along with one toggle switch. Here, you get 3 diode clipping options: Symmetrical Silicon, Asymmetrical Germanium or a diode lift for all transistor distortion.
This orange gem features silicon transistors, instead of the classic germanium, in the PNP position. These transistors are measured and carefully selected so the circuit biases correctly every time. Plus, you’ll never have to worry about any germanium weirdness, knowing that the HP-X is going to sound the same every time you click it on, regardless of temperature or playing conditions.
The HP-X features a specially selected combination of silver mica/poly film/ceramic capacitors that just get that clear and present but warm sound you want in a harmonic percolator device. We love this thing, and we’d love it if you’d check out our demo below to hear and see it in action. You can also grab an HP-X Harmonic Percolator from the Vaderin Pedals website, just in time to start the holiday season off right. Cheers to the Vaderin crew on another gloriously dirty effects pedal (see the Cherry Fuzz ‘Stainer and Tone Fox as well). We can’t wait to see what’s next from these guys, be sure to give ’em a follow on your favorite social media!
