FoxGear Echosex Baby Echo Delay

Many moons ago, we had the pleasure of sitting down and exploring the wonderful Gurus Amps Echosex2 Echo Delay. Reimagining the famous Binson Echorec, and with a real 12AX7B tube inside, this delay was quite a stellar piece of gear. Then, a while back, Gurus teamed up with FoxGear and began creating a line of smaller, more affordable pedals. The first of these that we’re going to check out is the EchoSex Baby, a small version of the Echosex pedal, with the same warm sounds you’d expect from a delay like this…

The Echosex Baby has all the same controls and features that bring to life expansive lush tones of its predecessor, all without the tube of the larger Echosex. The preamp section is designed with a Class A FET to faithfully reproduce nuances of tube behavior. Enjoy the Echosex Baby for its space-saving size and downright enchanting tones.

Tone starts off the controls by setting the tone of Repeats only, brighter or darker, depending on Feedback knob’s setting. Age sets the age of damage, adding some modulation and random pitch shifting, while Level controls the overall volume of repeats on the clean signal. The Repeats knob sets the number of repeats, from 1 to infinite and self-oscillating, and Time adjusts your delay time, with a range from 60ms to about 780ms.

The Echosex Baby Delay takes all the wonderful qualities of the original Echosex pedals, wraps them up in a bundle and smashes them into a pedalboard-friendly enclosure (carefully, of course). Classic, vintage echoes come pouring out of this seemingly simple effect, making it possibly the last delay you’ll ever need. And it definitely won’t break the bank the way the bigger units may have for some of us, ’cause when it comes down to it, it’s all about the tone, right? We’ve got a couple more of these pedals to explore, hopefully we’ll get to them all down the road – for now, go check out this one in our demo on YouTube, and let us know what you think!
