Karma Guitar Amplifiers MTN-10 Overdrive Distortion

The 10 Series of effects pedal from Ibanez (also called the “Power Series”), created in the 80’s, features some of the most underrated and loved pedals of all time. We’re going to talk about one of these 10 effects that doesn’t get talked about nearly enough: the MT10 Mostortion. This mosfet drive has become pretty rare, and when you can find one, they’re fairly spendy, which is perhaps why they’re not on everyone’s radar. The folks at Karma Guitar Amplifiers decided that it was time to resurrect this green beast, with some modern twists and all of that tasty original tone you could want.

Like the Mostortion, the MTN-10 features a 3 band EQ section, containing controls for Bass, Mids and Treble, along with Volume and Drive knobs. The sound is a transparent, extremely amp-esque overdrive/distortion sound, using theCA3260 IC chip like the originals had, resulting in a highly dynamic and touch-sensitive tone. Each pedal is meticulously hand wired and tested, and features high quality parts throughout the build.

The EQ is really the star here, as it is able to fit and work well with any guitar or pickup configuration. The wide range of tone shaping here works with the Drive parameter to dial in exactly what tones will work with your amp or rig, sculpting the perfect sonic sensation to blow your audience away. If you’re on the lookout for a pedal to make up for tones that are too bright, too dark or tonally lacking, the MTN-10 is your guy.

There’s plenty of gain on tap, too, as this beauty can go from a subtle boosted overdrive to a snarling, raging beast, with an extremely wide range between those extremes. Smooth low end definition, soaring lead tones and amp-driving crunch are just some of the tones that await you when you plug in the MTN-10 – don’t be surprised if it’s a bit hard to stop playing once you engage this pedal. Cheers to the Karma crew on a wonderful recreation of a classic, underrated distortion pedal from decades past – check out their website to grab yours, and be sure to hear it in action in our demo video below!!
