As you might guess from our “Klone Wars” series on YouTube, we love a good klone pedal here at Pedal of the Day. With so many to choose from, we’ve had a great time exploring each one we can get our hands on, and test the differing nuances and tonal subtleties that make each one unique in their own way. Today, we’re going to check out yet another one, this time from our friend to the north in Winnipeg, Canada, Kenny B Pedals, and see what he has to offer in this department.
Output, Treble and Gain are the usual Klone control suspects here, as they should be, but the Kenny B Klone offers up a couple more tasty options as well. An Ultra Gain knob gives you added dirt, going from lighter and more transparent to very heavy and thick. There’s a toggle switch present, too, labeled Bass, which, as you may guess, allows you to use it with a bass guitar rig. It will also fatten up your guitar sound, which can be extremely useful in certain musical scenarios.
A pair of germanium D9E Russian diodes were used in this Klone, ensuring the correct Klon-type sound is created, and it really works to conjure up those mythical tones. A plug and play pedal, for sure, but one with some added features for really dialing in what you want, this Klone takes it a couple steps further, delivering an excellent overdrive/boost that’s sure to turn some heads. Thanks to Kenny B Pedals for another killer redo of a killer pedal (check out his Sunn Model T Overdrive) – to see and hear it in action, just check out our demo video below, and don’t forget to like and subscribe to our channel, too!
