A good, loud, ripping fuzz is the perfect way to get the weekend going, and we’ve got a great one for you guys today. Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to check out the majority of the lineup from our friends at Vick Audio, including one of the first pedals we ever reviewed, the Fuzz Box, as well as the Violet Ram’s Head, V1 Triangle and 1861 fuzzes. Continuing that tradition, we present the Black Russian Fuzz.
Part of the Tau (Big Muff) Classic Reproduction Series, the Black Russian is slightly smoother than its “American cousins” and has slightly less sustain. It is prized among bassists and guitar players that want a smooth, refined fuzz with great low end response. Plus, a switch has been added for three mid-range options: Scooped (stock), as well as Flat and Boosted mids.
As usual, the Black Russian Fuzz is hand-wired, and has been constructed with the best ingredients, including a 3PDT True Bypass switch, high-quality US-made PCB, Neutrik Audio Jacks and a powder coated enclosure, ensuring years of stomping abuse. All the pedals in the Tau Series are classic Big Muff Pi recreations, all with switchable mids profiles, and are definitely worth checking out. Be sure to stop by the Vick Audio website for all the info, and hear the Black Russian in action in our demo below. Stay safe!!
