The Infamous Klon. Tons of debates about this one: some swear by it, some think it’s incredibly overpriced, some just want one to add to a collection of status symbol pedals and some just like the way it sounds, period. Since the majority of us don’t have roughly $2,000 to drop on one pedal, there are companies like Kink Guitar Pedals who make it easy for us to get the Klon sound affordably. Their Femtaur pedal is what we’re checking out today, and it is a really tasty replication of that mysterious effect, and one that has recently been featured in our Klone Wars series of demo videos.
Staying as true to the original as possible, the Femtaur uses high quality components, including vintage Russian Germanium diodes, to recreate that signature sound. Though unlabeled, the controls are the same as on the Klon: Output, Treble and Gain, and function exactly as they should. As you can hear, the Femtaur is a wonderful Klone in all senses of the word, and one that does an excellent job of paying homage to a classic.
