FTelettronica Pedals Final Cut Preamp Booster EQ

In the past, the pedals we’ve reviewed and demoed from our friends at FTelettronica Pedals have been pretty complex, with lots of buttons and switches and knobs and exploration involved. Today’s pedal from them, the Final Cut Preamp Booster EQ, dials things back just a bit, with 4 simple knobs and a no-frills approach to a very specific sound. Sometimes, you just need a simple setup to get amazing tone, and that’s exactly what this pedal achieves…

Based on the classic Colorsound Power Boost (a favorite of Jeff Beck and David Gilmour, to name a few), the Final Cut is a transistor-based boost/drive pedal with a 2-band tonestack. This basic but uber-effective control panel provides a wide range of preamp, overdriven and even fuzz sounds to delve into, pushing any rig into the sweet spots of volume boost, edge of breakup and beyond. The Treble and Bass knobs control the high-end and low-end response of the circuit, respectively, while the Volume parameter lets you set the amount of gain coming from the first transistor stage. A Master knob adjusts the overall output volume of the effect, of which there is PLENTY to work with.
