Boss DS-2 TURBO Distortion

Let’s get 2025 off to a proper rockin’ start, shall we? The lineage of Boss Distortion pedals goes back decades, and I’m excited to bring you one today that seems to be somewhat overlooked in general conversation. The DS-2 TURBO Distortion is just that – a blistering, amp-crushing powerhouse meant to destroy eardrums and amp speakers simultaneously. This one isn’t for the faint of heart, kiddos, so beware!!

The DS-2 is a distortion unit that features turbo circuits that adopt a discrete system, meaning there is a very low amount of noise created. There are two types of distortions to choose from (Mode I & Mode II) by changing the Turbo mode. These Turbo modes can also be controlled by using a Boss footswitch connected to the Remote jack. The range of sounds here is quite lovely as well, moving from boost to crunch to wild distortion with ease.

If you’re a fan of Kurt Cobain from Nirvana, John Frusciante from the Chili Peppers or Page Hamilton from Helmet, the DS-2 TURBO Distortion is a pedal you’re going to want in your sonic arsenal. It’s not better than the classic DS-1 Distortion, per se, just different, and they create quite the wall of sound when stacked together.
