Akai Analog Custom Shop Phase Shifter

Today, we have a fairly rare effects unit for you all to enjoy. Though mainly focused on digital music production and hardware, Akai Professional has dipped into the world of pedals here and again (we love their HeadRush Delay/Echo/Looper), and one of those is our pedal of the day. The Analog Custom Shop Phase Shifter conjures up shades of classic phasing and modulation, while giving you a unique approach to how the effect is presented – plus, it’s really shiny and pretty!

The Custom Shop Phase Shifter is a 10-stage phaser with a variable Rate control and four preset levels of intensity, ala the MXR Phase 100. However, the Phase Shifter offers a pair of two-way switches with four possible combinations, instead of a four-way rotary switch. Offering a more modern take on phasing, with a brighter tonality than that offered by vintage circuitry, this one produces a very usable phasing for effect, with the intensity options allowing variations from barely perceptible movement to a deep swoosh or wobble.

There’s not a tone of info out there on this pedal, so you should probably just got check out our demo video below to see and how what it can do. Phasers are one of my favorite effects, and the Akai Analog Custom Shop Phase Shifter simply sounds gorgeous. While there’s nothing too wild or crazy about it, the modulation is solid, and can add a wonderful new dimension to any rig or pedalboard setup. Enjoy this one, kiddos, cheers!!
