We loved the S10V Limited Edition Run 11W amp from our pal Anthony at Marla Amplification here in beautiful Asheville, NC, and we’re excited to bring you another of his creations today! The S20V 2-Channel 22W Guitar Amp has a bit more oomph than its little brother, with two channels to choose from and explore. Mixing modern and classic tones alike, to create a wonderful musical stew, we think you’ll all dig this amp as much as we did, for sure…
At first glance the S20V looks much like the tweed dlx; This makes the amplifier approachable to fans of early American amps, but that is far from its tonal foundation. There is much more headroom and drastically less compression at low volumes than the deluxe. The S20V is equipped with two channels, both having low & high sensitivity inputs, meant to give players a wide variety of jumping off points for their signature sound. The two channels are independent in voicing and signal path, so they need to be jumped with an ABY or Jumper Cable if you would like to blend both worlds. Coming in under 36 lbs, the Marla S20V is one of the lightest weight ~20 watt combos on the market.

Marla Amplification seeks to build quality amps at a price point that gigging musicians can afford, with simplistic layouts that are approachable to all levels of players. A guitar tone should be as personalized/unique as your fingerprint – no one wants to sound like the guitarist that just played that stage – these classically inspired amps with a unique sound will help musicians have that individualized tonal foundation. Also, each amp is named (no serial numbers) after Dogs in Shelters, to remind people their next best friend is waiting for them (this one is named Princess Buttercup)!
Once again, the S20V 22W Combo Amp from Marla Amplification proves to be a gorgeous, high-quality piece of gear – the look, the light weight, the TONE. Having two channels here is really nice, espceially when jumping them, which creates a sensational amount of midrange overdrive and top end sizzlely distortion. Be sure to check out the Marla Amplification website for more info on this amp, their other amp’s and Anthony’s story of how he got to this point – we love all things Asheville, be sure you support your local builders as well, cheers!!
