This Heavy Earth Hesher v3 Preamp

It’s been a couple years since we last saw a pedal from This Heavy Earth (or is it thisheavyearth – ??), but today’s effects unit really brings the sonic goodies. The Hesher v3 Preamp brings several famous amplifier circuits from across the pond together into one beautiful sonic stew, ranging from slightly dirty and broken up to amp-pushing, eardrum-crushing glory. A true amp-in-a-pedal production, this one brings the fire and thunder right to your pedalboard…

The Hesher v3 Preamp nods back to multiple ’80s circuits, while paving its own individual sonic path. This Marshall-In-A-Box doesn’t use any JFETs, instead opting for a unique opamp gain staging topology unique to this design. Shifting away from the classic JCM mid control, Hesher features an anti-log pot to help with dialing in those more mid-focused tones. Elements of the JCM 800 are present, for sure, as well as hints of the 8100 and 2204 models.

The tone network is highly interactive and, because of this, altering the setting of one control can change the way the other controls behave. Crank the Mid (CW) for a fuller, more cutting mid tone, or turn it down (CCW) for a more aggressive scooped sound of classic thrash. A Presence control adjusts the amount of boost or cut in the upper high frequency range, and there’s plenty of volume on tap to give you a nice boost if you should need one.
