DPE Pedals Chromosome Dual Overdrive

We always love checking out pedals from new companies, and we’ve got a real gem for you all today. The DPE Pedals Chromosome Dual Overdrive brings 2 classic circuits, complete with some great additions, into the mix, to drive your amp and alter your tone…in the best ways. Having 2 drive circuits in one pedal is always a blast, and when they sound this good, it’s that much more fun…

The Chromosome is a dual overdrive with two different circuits heavily modified to interact better together. Each side can be run independently or run in series. The Right side is very loosely based on a tweed style drive. This is mostly transparent overdrive but always adds a bit of sparkle to the original tone. First drive in the chain. Setting the gain to zero and presence 100% creates a unique almost dirty treble boost type sound (Fat switch heavily impacts this setting) – this is a great setting for hitting Left Side Drive, or to run a Strat on neck pickup!

In addition to Volume and Gain controls, this side features a Presence knob and a Fat switch. Presence adjusts the “presence/brightness” that flows through the gain stages. The Fat switch is directly tied to the Presence knob – if Presence is off, the Fat switch won’t make a difference. The greater the presence setting the more impact the fat switch will have. Fat switch adds more….fatness.

The Left side is a Modified D-Style overdrive. The goal of this one was to keep the majority of the same tonal characteristics of a D-Style pedal but adjust the attack and response that it gives throughout the gain ranges. This is the Second drive in the chain, with the Level, Gain and Tone parameters all working as they normally would. The Voice knob limits the level of gain available as well as adjusting the amount of low end that flows through the circuit. More Voice = more gain and less low end.
Depth lets you select the bass frequency response range as well.

Each DPE Pedals effect is hand built one-by-one (Through-Hole) and fully tested before shipping. Built with highest grade audio components: i.e. Nichicon, WIMA, Panasonic & Rubycon.
