Shnobel Tone Daily Driver Boost Overdrive

Last month, we checked out our first pedal from Shnobel Tone in quite a while, and the Ratatouille Distortion definitely didn’t disappoint. Today, we’re looking at a newer version of their flagship pedal, the Daily Driver, the first incarnation of which we saw way back in 2020. This new version, the Daily Driver Boost, combines the original with a boost circuit, enabling you to push any amp you’d like into the sweet spot…

The Daily Driver Overdrive features an original and unique drive circuit that gives you a rich sound full of harmonics and an amp-like response. It features Low and High EQ controls along with a three-position high cut toggle switch that lets you dial in the perfect overdrive sounds, no matter what amp you are plugging into. The gain ranges from clean and mild to a medium gain overdrive sound, with the most drive harmonics at maximum gain.

The Daily Driver Boost combines Shnobel Tone’s Boost and Daily Driver pedals into one. The two circuits can be used independently or together, the order toggle switch gives you the flexibility to change the order of the two circuits to find different tones that weren’t possible before. The Daily Driver circuit has been tweaked to have more headroom when using the pedal with humbucker pickups, to achieve those edge of break up sounds to be a true first gain stage overdrive. The Boost circuit is unchanged and is identical to the standalone pedal.

This pedal, like the Ratatouille, instantly sounds good as soon as you plug it in and let it rip. The Boost is clean and clear, with plenty of output, while the updates to the Overdrive circuit make it sound even better. All in all, the Daily Driver Boost really sparkles, especially with a tube amp, while saving space on your pedalboard and supporting smaller pedal companies, which we’re all about.
