The Octave effect genre adds a layer of sound to your tone that can turn heads and perk up eardrums in any musical situation. Whether it’s an up or down (or mix of both) octave, it will beef up you tone and add dimension to any song, riff or lead part you’ve got. Today, we’re visiting with our friends at Asheville Guitar Pedals once more, to check out their simple but simply rad Analog Octave Up effects unit…
The Analog Octave Up is basically a clone of the famous Green Ringer Ring Modulator/Octave effect, made in the USA in the 1970s. These types of effects track chords in a very cool way and give up a super pronounced octave up sound that REALLY pops out when you play above the 12th fret. This one from AGP, however, features an added ceramic capacitor that cuts out the unusable higher frequencies. It works great before a fuzz or a RAT-type circuit, but can get really fun coming from a clean guitar or bass signal as well.
No knobs, you say? No problem! Just engage this purple beauty whenever you need a little…something extra in your sound, and the Analog Octave Up will deliver without you having to give it a second thought. It’s a bit difficult to explain a pedal with no controls, so be sure to head over to our YouTube channel and check out the demo video we made that showcases what this thing can do. Be sure to visit the Asheville Guitar Pedals website as well, for more info on this and their entire lineup of pedals, guitars, amps and more, right here in the mountains of North Carolina. Cheers, and have a great weekend!!
