In celebration of “The Beach Boys” documentary on Disney+, JHS has hatched the Good Vibrations Chorus/Vibrato, a pedal channeling late-1960s sounds with a vintage bulb-driven circuit oozing with analog warmth and warble that would feel right at home onstage or in the studio with The Beach Boys. This landmark circuit opened up new sonic dimensions that challenged the early ’60s tone monopolies of tube bias tremolo and spring reverb.
A retro rocker switch lets you toggle between two types of Good Vibrations. The Chorus mode’s satisfying thickness helps you channel The Beach Boys’ legendary studio sessions and the age of audio psychedelia and sound-on-sound experiments that Brian Wilson helped usher in. Meanwhile, the Vibrato mode is a faster, bolder warbling effect that bends pitch at the edges for a wave of funky flavor. In either mode, you control the Rate/Speed, the Depth/Intensity, and the pedal’s overall output.
The Volume control lets you add more muscle or adapt Good Vibrations to different instruments and rigs — it’s also a convenient way to offset perceived volume loss that deeper modulation settings sometimes introduce. Lastly, the Good Vibrations pedal features a silent soft-touch footswitch and a buffered bypass to guarantee stellar analog fidelity tones that put a smile on the faces of musicians and audiences alike. The enclosure here is a pretty big box, yet it’s still pedalboard-friendly, and absolutely oozes warm, vintage modulation around every corner.
