Asheville Music Tools ADG-1 Analog Delay

We’re continuing our “Asheville Week” here at Pedal of the Day today, with the last of three effects from a company focused on 100% analog sounds. The Asheville Music Tools ADG-1 Analog Delay utilizes a pair of Xvive™ high voltage BBDs, this delay features up to 700ms of harmonically rich, perfectly floating echoes with an extensive and fully analog control set unprecedented for a pedal of its size. From a bright country slapback to washy dotted eight leads to psychedelic modulated odysseys, the ADG-1 is the new standard in compact analog delays. …

The ADG-1 is a marriage of vintage audio processing techniques and advanced, high-tech electronics. It is designed using modern, quality components for uncompromising sound, features, and reliability. Engineered by renowned analog designer Hawker, the ADG-1 features two reissue Bucket Brigade Delay lines for up to 700ms of delay. AMT started with a high voltage 15V power supply powering a pair of studio grade MN3005 BBDs, unlike the lower cost MN320x pedal-grade BBDs found in most stompboxes.

A special blend of two tightly tuned high-Q 5th order anti-alias and reconstruction filters were then added, along with VCA feedback control, a unique 5-amp high current BBD driver, and an analog clock with exponential modulation technology to obtain unprecedented sound, richness, clean tails, and true fractional delay in a compact footprint. The onboard Low Frequency Oscillator and sophisticated control voltage topology guarantee the best sound, features, and control available in any fully analog delay currently on the market.

The look, feel and sounds created by the ADG-1 Analog Delay are all quite impressive, and we had a great time checking out these pedals from Asheville Music Tools this week. There’s a ton more info on the AMT website, including in-depth analysis of BBDs and much more. Be sure to check out our demo video below, too, to see and hear this analog gem in action, and you can pick these fine effects up for yourself at Heyday Music downtown. More local Asheville pedals coming soon, cheers!!
