The Gladys Overdrive was the very first pedal we ever reviewed for our friends at Summer School Electronics early last year, and it was a great introduction to this great company. Since then, we’ve had the pleasure of checking out EIGHT of their other wonderful creations. Today, we’re revisiting that first effects unit, but in a slightly different capacity: ladies and gents, here is the Gladys Overdrive V2.
Gladys V2 is an updated version of Summer School’s Low/ Mid-gain transparent overdrive pedal. New features here include increased headroom, more available gain, a 2-band EQ, silent switching and updated artwork. In the Up-position, the toggle switch gives you a classic transparent breaker style circuit; when in the Down-position, it adds more compression and volume, making it a more focused, modern sound.
We’re really digging the 2-band EQ section, for dialing in the exact sound you need with your amp/rig, and the Gladys V2 sounds amazing as ever. Rolling easily from boost to slight breakup to crunchy as can be, there’s a lot to explore in this little silver box. Thanks as always to Mark and Summer School Electronics for sending another gem our way – if you don’t know these guys yet, be sure to visit their website, and watch our demo video below as well! Cheers!
