After reviewing and demoing the gorgeous Stageman II Studio Acoustic Amp from NUX earlier this month, we’re excited to get back to checking out some of their effects pedals, starting today with the NDS-5 Fireman Distortion. With 2 channels for rhythm and lead switching, plus a wide-ranging control section, this powerful little beast will bring the heat to any rig or pedalboard. Let’s jump in the fire and see what it’s all about…
The Fireman Distortion is based on the legendary amplifier builder’s famous distortion pedal. It’s a very amp-like distortion pedal with Modern Brown Sound. Designed with 2 independent Volume and Gain control knobs to fit rhythm and solo applications, it also features master controls for Bass, Treble, Presence and a Tight control, which shapes the low frequency content. Fireman offers a True-bypass / Buffer-bypass toggle switch, as well as an 9V / 18V toggle switch. The 18V position doubles the working voltage inside to give you wider dynamic range.
There’s even an external switch jack you can use to control the 2 footswitches from anywhere you need, depending on how your rig is setup. The Fireman Distortion is a no-nonsense dirt pedal, ready and willing to push your amps into sonic glory and breakup territory with ease. Thanks once again to NUX for sending this one over for us to check out – be sure to visit their website for more info, and don’t forget to check out our demo video below as well!
