Like it or not, aesthetics play a certain role in all of our pedal collections. There are lots of flavors of design, look and feel to every effects pedal out there, from the plain metal enclosures to wildly imaginative, intricate pieces of artwork. Today’s pedal, the Shroot II (Deluxe) Overdrive from Fuzz Imp has, for a lot of us, an instantly-recognizable television character at its forefront, and it’s a large basis for wanting to explore this effect. Luckily, it also sounds amazing…
A stellar “amp in a box” style dirt pedal, the Shroot II (Deluxe) Overdrive is perfect for sculpting your own signature gain sounds. Featuring classic Bears (Gain), Beets (Tone) and B.S.G (Battlestar Galactica, for those who don’t know; Volume control), this machine also features Kick (Low) and Punch (Mid) EQ controls, letting you dial in a wide range of unique tones. The touch sensitive response of the gain sounds mean you hear more of the tonality of the guitar and amp than an overbearing typical distortion that is too “one note”.
It looks cool, it sounds great – what more do you need from an overdrive pedal?? Justus from Fuzz Imp has been at it for a while now, and after playing the Shroot II (Deluxe) Overdrive, I absolutely cannot wait to check out more gear from him (spoiler: stay tuned in a couple weeks!). Be sure to head over to the Fuzz Imp website and on Reverb for all the pedals and stuff, and be sure to head over to YouTube for our full demo video. And remember, Jim, identity theft isn’t a joke…
