Earlier this year, two of the best Klon clones we’ve ever played came to us via Studio Daydream Handmade Pedals, in the form of the KCM-OD Gold V9.0 and the KCM-OD Silver V10. After those two beauties, we were eager to see what their next overdriven creation would be, and now we’ve got it for you today. The Dhyana Overdrive V2.5 takes on a super-rare pedal, one we’d never even heard of, and brings it into the present with gusto and pizazz…get ready for a fun one!!
The Dhyana Overdrive is based on the Smoky Signal Tubeless Overdrive, specifically the Alpha tuning model. This Japanese pedal, created by designer Taku Sakashita, was created as a “Dumble In A Box” type of pedal, made to compliment your guitar while driving your amp as you see fit. The Dhyana does just that, with a rich, full sound at every setting, making your tone sing and amp break up perfectly. Aside from the usual Level, Tone and Gain controls, it features an A.M.C. knob, which stands for Amplifier Matching Control. This parameter adjusts the harmonics and gain in a unique way, blending with the Gain control for a host of distinctive tones and levels of overdriven prestige.
After doing a little research, it seems that some original Smoky Signals Tubeless pedals list anywhere from $4,500 – $8,000 (seriously) on the used market, so the Dhyana Overdrive V2.5 is a welcome creation if you’re after this specific sound. Built in a specially designed aluminum enclosure, with blushing and black anodizing finish, along with true bypass switching, this overdrive will slide right into your favorite pedal setup, and really make your amp and inspiration come alive. Thanks to our friends at Studio Daydream Handmade Pedals for letting us check this one out – be sure to visit their website for more details and more gear, and please stop by our YouTube channel for the Full Demo to hear the Dhyana Overdrive in action!!
