Last year, we were able to demo FOUR new pedals from Dreadbox, a synth-heavy company we had first worked with back in 2016, that had released a new lineup of effects. The Kinematic, Lethargy, Komorebi and Darkness were all unique and amazing-sounding, so we couldn’t wait to see what they had in store next. Today, we get to explore 2 more new creations from Dreadbox – the Treminator Smashing Tremolo and the Raindrops Stereo Delay. Hang on tight, you’re in for a ride…
Based on the synthesizer’s last signal flow stage, called the VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier), the Treminator Smashing Tremolo takes a simple circuit and adapts it to a really expressive effect pedal, which is combined with an LFO that is controlled by Envelope Generators. The Raindrops Stereo Delay, on the other hand, is equipped with multiple delay stages and different chips and you can choose between 3 different play modes, where in each one you can have a whole new experience and alternative soundscapes. You can achieve from simple short echos, to long, dirty and lo-fi delays and from simple pitch shifting bursts to extensively lasting reverbs.
Each of these units has an entire second level of controls as well, accessed by holding down the On/Shift switch, allowing you to really dig in deep and create some incredible sounds. The Treminator and Raindrops also feature CMOS buffered bypass switching, and the stereo effect on the Raindrops is simply incredible. Lots more info as we take deep dives into both of these pedals in our demos below – be sure to watch ’em both, subscribe to our channel and then head over to the Dreadbox website for more info. Cheers!!
