Wounded Paw Audio Attack Goat OD DI Bass Pre-Amp

It’s been a while since we saw an effects pedal from Wounded Paw Audio, and it’s also been a while since we had a bass pedal to review and demo. Luckily, both of these are getting fixed today, with the introduction of the Attack Goat OD DI Bass Pre-Amp, a 2-channel fuzz, overdrive, EQ and more. If you’re looking for a tone-shaping, amp-pushing, low-end machine to handle your 4, 5 or 6-string needs, you’re in the right place…

The Attack Goat is a full bass preamp with the Attack Goat Bass Fuzz up front and then two variable frequency boost/cut eq sections followed by an overdrive and adjustable hi end roll off. The fuzz and the eq/overdrive sections can be switched on or off individually with the two stomp switches. Four output options include a dedicated XLR balanced line out with ground lift for recording or PA mixer, a built-in headphone out with aux in for practicing along with backing tracks, along with the regular 1/4″ out to go to an amp and an unaffected 1/4″ thru.

The Fuzz side lets you add some grind to your bass. Dial in full-on fuzz or just a little grit while keeping a solid low end. The old school fuzz section with germanium clipping has a thick tone with more than a hint of octave up and is tuned especially for bass guitar. The TONE control goes from mid-range heavy to mid-cut with tons of bass and treble. The BLEND knob can keep as much or as little of the clean bass signal as desired to keep that solid low end or go for over the top distortion.

The EQ has two sections with a huge +/-16dB of boost or cut and a wide sweep of frequencies. The LO section goes from 50Hz to 500Hz and the HI section can vary from 500Hz to 5kHz. The EQ leads straight into the overdrive which goes from clean to a little grit to full on grind. The treble control can tame the high end fizz by rolling off the higher frequencies.

Both sections of the Attack Goat have their own volume controls and footswitches to add plenty of dynamic options to your sound. There are so many options to explore here, and so many tones to be had, we enlisted a REAL bass player to help us out with the demo – many thanks to our buddy Todd Tabor for laying it down, be sure to follow him on IG @dryrunwoodworks!) Thanks to Preston and Wounded Paw Audio for sending this beautiful bass preamp our way to check out, too – more info and how to order on their website HERE, and don’t forget to check out the demo and hear this monster in action. Cheers!!
