For the second time in a row, we’ve got a seemingly basic but surprising pedal from our friends at Discomfort Designs. Following in the footsteps of The Big Mistake Fuzz, we present the mighty Doomsailor Distortion, a powerful beast with a simple control setup. With a wide range of tones and all the heavy grit you can handle, this one is ready to annihilate everything in its musical pathway…
The Doomsailor Distortion is basically a maximum gain power amp distortion in the vein of the D.A.M. Sonic Titan or EQD Acapulco Gold. The giant knob is the master volume, and the teeny-tiny knob is the gain. Like other LM386 pedals, this little box is actually a colossus of distortion-filled rage. Huge, ragged, and loud; though the gain knob can tame things quite a bit. Pure power.
We always love when 2 simple knobs can produce such a wide spectrum of sound, and the Doomsailor Distortion is no exception. Cascading through a multitude of dirty sonic waterfalls and elegantly extreme routes, this distortion gives off a bold presence and incredible tone, and can be dialed in very quickly. Once again, our friends at Discomfort Designs have managed to crush it – visit their website or Reverb shop for more info & pedals, and don’t forget to check out our demo below as well – cheers!!
