The Klone. Since the majority of us think it’s absurd to spend $5,000 or more on a pedal, klones have become a musical godsend, offering a ton of different sonic flavors without the hefty price tags that go with the originals. We’re bringing you another lovely offering today, in the form of the My Little Klony from Daddy Daughter Pedal Works. This pink beauty is dialed in sonically to the mythical units, with a couple of twists and a great story…

There were a few component value changes between the two original gold and silver Klon versions. My Little Klony goes with a “middle of the road” version, taking elements from both and combining them. The original’s linear taper pot for the volume control has been swapped in favor of a logarithmic pot, for smoother control across the pot’s sweep. NOS Germanium clipping diodes (D9E while supplies last) are utilized here, all tested and matched to the specs of the original. All other components are high quality and sourced from reputable suppliers.

Other updates here include a better wet/dry ratio (the dry signal is blended with the overdrive before the output), slightly higher overall gain and a slight shift in the tone control. And while many overdrive pedals can operate safely up to 18v, this is NOT one of them, running on standard 9V operation. There is an internal charge pump that provides for up to 27v for certain portions of the circuit.

Having a daughter myself, one who also enjoys noodling with her own pedalboard, and the new creations that come into the shop, I love what Drew and Aida are doing together at Daddy Daughter Pedal Works.
