With each new release, Chase Bliss defies our expectations and manages to one-up itself as one of the top effects pedal companies in the world. Their latest effort, Habit, is a delay and looper, but it’s also much, much more than that. Combining elements of sonic manipulation, tape delays, free-form composition and shrinking subdivisions, to name a few, this is the next step in the evolution of what a pedal is truly capable of…
The manual for Habit is fairly involved, and once you get the basics of how it works down, the fun can really begin. Completing the aural trilogy that began with blooper (loop-focused) and MOOD (ambience-focused), Habit (delay-focused) is a musical sketchpad waiting to unleash your creativity. Here are SOME of the highlights and features (’cause we’re not gonna copy and paste the entire manual):
– 60-seconds of delay
– secondary echoes
– tape delays
– dissolving echoes
– shrinking subdivisions
– free-form sampling
– loop building through memory navigation
– MIDI, CV & EXP connectivity
– modulation sculpting
– dipswitch manipulation
– and, of course, presets
We took a slightly different path for our demo video on this one as well – wanting to really push the boundaries of what Habit can do, we paired it up with four other wonderful and different effects (Microcosm, Fabrikat, Goatkeeper & Astral Destiny), for an experimental journey through this marvelous new creation. There’s a lot more info, plus the full manual, on the Chase Bliss website, as well as a ton of other demos that showcase this pedal in a million different lights. We’d love it if you took a journey with us and the Habit Echo Collector Delay Looper below – you’re gonna want to grab one for yourself immediately. Cheers!!
