Over the last couple of years, we’ve joyously learned that Mozztronics doesn’t make clone pedals, opting instead for emulation circuits of amps and specific but original takes on classic effects. Today we’ve got a good old overdrive, the GD-1 Bone Breaker Green Drive, which gives you FIVE different Screamer-esque options to choose from, and use as you see fit. You get 5 incredible drives in one pedal – what more could you want?
Before we jump into the clipping modes, let’s check out the main control section of the GD-1 Bone Breaker. Gain controls the gain in the clipping stage, while Tone controls the balance between treble and bass in the output (this has been beefed up for a wider range). Volume adjusts the overall output out of the pedal, and Body controls the midrange voicing, from mid scoop when counterclockwise (Muff style), to flat (TS style) when clockwise. No more dreaded Muff-type mid scoop getting you lost in the mix.
Mode is a 5-way switch to select the different clipping modes:
Position 1 will give you classic TS type sounds
Position 2 will give you classic OD1 type sounds
Position 3 will give you classic ‘ello Guvnor type sounds
Position 4 will give you classic obsessive compulsive type sounds
Position 5 is a Mozztronics special, using the clipping arrangement Mozztronics uses in their DL30 Driveline pedal
With all of these choices and sonic options, the GD-1 Bone Breaker Green Drive is no one-trick pony, trust us.
