Surfy Industries Surfybear Compact Reverb

We LOVE a good reverb sound, whether subtle or pronounced, slight or bold, rockin’ or ambient. It’s not often, though, that a device comes through here that actually has SPRINGS in the reverb, and that’s one of the many reasons we’re stoked to bring you the Surfy Industries SurfyBear Compact Reverb Unit. This true spring reverb has a wonderful control section, authentic sound and a stylish, well-built enclosure, and that’s just for starters…

The SurfyBear Compact is based on the original Fender 6G15 Reverb Tank, with a couple of added bonus features. Organic reverb tone simply oozes out here, and the 2 Mixer controls can be set to different depths, then switched seamlessly via footswitch, essentially giving you two reverbs in one. The Tone knob brightens or darkens the reverb, Dwell sets the amount of reverb present and Decay controls the length of the “reverb tail”. Volume sets your overall output level as well, and can be used as a clean signal boost if needed.

Measuring 9.5 x 4.5 x 2″ in an aluminum housing, the SurfyBear Compact Reverb is not the smallest unit on the block, but you’ll gladly give up some pedalboard real estate for the sounds it can create. The soft switches are smooth and quiet as can be, and you can easily glide between musical genres as needed with the interactive controls and natural, dynamic sounds. You can FEEL the authenticity in this reverb, as though someone took a tank right out of your favorite vintage Fender amp and tossed it onto your board.

An excellent plug-and-play pedal, great sounds are possible within about 4 seconds of engaging this pedal, with much more to delve into for days afterwards. The sleek look and high-quality design round everything out, making this a spring reverb that can go against the best out there. Cheers to Surfy Industries on re-creating this wonderful machine, in a smaller package, without sacrificing any tone. More info on their site, as always, and be sure to check out some sounds we made with it in our demo below – cheers!

(oh, and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!)
