Mythos Pedals Oracle Analog Echo

Delay…elay…lay…ay…y… We just can’t get enough of it, and today’s simple yet extremely impressive pedal shows just why that is. The Mythos Pedals Oracle Analog Echo pays homage to classic Japanese echo pedals, but is a unique circuit and not a direct clone of anything in particular. Don’t let the 3-knob layout fool you into thinking this is a regular old delay effect – ’cause it isn’t.

Designed by John Snyder of Electronic Audio Experiments, the Oracle is built around two reissue MN3205 chips, providing up to 600ms of delay time. The classic control section lineup of Time, Feedback and Mix is present, along with a Tap Tempo footswitch that’s always welcome. The delay voicing is dark but doesn’t get completely muffled, as some older units tend to, keeping clarity and presence throughout. The Feedback knob provides some wonderful self-oscillation past 1:00 or so, and there’s even an external jack from which you can control the Tap Tempo via an outside switch (using the Tap feature also lets you get longer delay times).

Warm and inviting, the Oracle Analog Echo produces some glorious delay lines, sounding excellent in front of your favorite amp, or in an FX loop. The longer the delay time, the more noise creeps into the echoes, but isn’t that kind of what we’re all here for, anyway? It’s tough to beat an analog delay, any day of the week, especially when they’re made and sound like this red beast. This is our first foray into the world of Mythos Pedals, and we hope to bring you many more of their effects in the near future.
