NativeAudio Rising Sun V2 Optical Tremolo

We love a good tremolo pedal, especially one that’s rooted in both musical history and cultural heritage. That’s why we’re excited today to bring you the NativeAudio Rising Sun V2 Optical Tremolo, a vintage-sounding modulation monster that expands on the technology found in vintage amplifiers. With an intuitive interface, incredible sounds and a great story to go with it, there’s a lot to get into here, so let’s jump on in…

There are two main modes in the Rising Sun: Tap and Ramp. In Tap mode, the Rate knob sets the speed of the tremolo effect, which you can also set via Tap Tempo using the Control footswitch. There’s also a tap Divisions knob, letting you choose from half, quarter, either and sixteenth note sections. Volume controls the overall output of the signal, while Depth controls the intensity of the effect. Choose from 4 waveforms as well, for a multitude of sonic options – pick from Sine, Ramp Up, Ramp Down or Square options here.

Switching over to Ramp mode (using the lone toggle), the main feature becomes the ability to ramp up and down between two speed settings. The Slow(Fast) knob controls allows you to set the Slow start time and the Fast end time, with the R.Time knob setting the amount of time it takes to ramp between the two settings. You can also set the On(Hold) switch to be either Latching or Momentary, the latter of which lets you temporarily turn the effect on and off in controlled bursts when it is bypassed.

The Rising Sun is also a tribute to owner Mike Trombley’s Blackfeet (Amsskaapipiikuni) heritage, with the artwork telling a story as always, looking towards the Eastern sky as the sun rises over the horizon (more info about this on their website). We love that Mike incorporates his ancestry into each NativeAudio pedal, and are always interested to hear what inspires his unique creations.
