ezhi&aka Polarized Flutter Lofi Tapestop

If you are looking for out-of-the-ordinary, mind-blowing, noise-creating machines, you should look no further than ezhi&aka. Made in extremely small batches and pretty hard to obtain, we’ve only had our grubby mitts on one other pedal of theirs, the Moomindrone T Drone Delay, until today. Let’s take a look at the Polarized Flutter Lofi Tapestop, a hard-to-define machine that utilizes a pad you “play” with your fingers or feet…how could you not be intrigued?

Polarized Flutter is a force sensor controlled lofi tapestop pedal, providing upwards tapestop, downwards tapestop, slight vibrato, touch-controlled chorus and percussive, touch-controlled swell. The ezhi&aka Signature fuzz is built-in, now featuring a dedicated volume control to save your vintage amps. In Downward mode, with Smooth engaged, you can press the sensor quite hard and hold it there to engage a slow but inevitable tapestop. Mixing in some clean signal sounds like your chorus pedal is trying to jump off a cliff. Upward mode connects you to the main chip’s clock directly through the force sensor, and even slightest movements and changes in pressure destabilize your signal’s pitch and sound quality for that tape flutter effect.

The sensor pad is strange and sensitive, so experimenting with pressing it through sponges, brushes, etc., makes for some wild and inventive sonic creations. The Polarized Flutter Lofi Tapestop is an extremely hands-on, unpredictable mound of gorgeous chaos, wrapped in a beautiful enclosure – if you’re headed out to play a blues gig at your local watering hole, might want to leave this one in the van. However, if you’re up for some wild auditory manipulation, creation and invention, the Polarized Flutter (or any of the pedals) from ezhi&aka will be right up your alley.
