NUX Tape Core Deluxe Echo

The sound of a vintage tape delay is one that has been heard on countless recordings over the last 5+ decades, and is sought-after by musicians the world over. Today’s pedal, the NUX Tape Core Deluxe Tape Echo Delay, brings us this particular delay sound, in compact form, with a slew of sonic options to choose from. Boasting 7 repro tape head combinations, plus a Sound-on-Sound feature, there’s plenty to explore with this one…

Just like the original Tape Echo, the NUX Tape Core Deluxe features 3 reproduction heads yielding 7 different combinations of delay sounds, where all of the natural sound, decay and modulation was created using cutting-edge TS/AC Technology. The maximum parameters of the REPEAT knob can be used to recreate the classic Infinite Feedback Oscillation effect that was, until now, only available on the physical machine. This trippy sci-fi effect, made popular by artists like Pink Floyd and The Steve Miller Band, allows for super-cool song intros, interludes and endings.

NUX takes things up to another level here as well, with their downloadable Tape Core Editor software. With it, you can edit the repro-heads in real time, re-assign your 7 combinations and turn on/off the Auto Tap and Kill Dry functions. You can even dive into EQ / Parameter adjustment for additional sonic tweaks to Wow, Flutter, Bass, Reverb, Saturation and Treble. Customization is a cinch with this software, and it will take your delay sound to other worlds in a hurry.

A toggle switch lets you choose true or tails bypass modes, along with a T-Lock mode that locks in your settings for live performances. Basically, you’re gonna have a lot of fun sitting down and investigating this wonderful piece of gear, and since you can customize it precisely to your liking, the sky is the limit. Plus, it costs about 1/15th of what a vintage machine might run you, so there’s that as well. Be sure to check out our demo below and hear the NUX Tape Core Deluxe in action – cheers!
