Kenny B Pedals Double Double Overdrive

Flashy graphics and newly-shaped enclosures have their place in the effects pedal world, for sure, but sometimes, simplicity can be welcome. That seems to be the goal with the lineup from our pals at Kenny B Pedals, and we’re taking a look at our 4th effect from them today. The Double Double has an easy-to-figure-out control section, complete with multiple sonic options, housed in an unassuming, minimalistic case. That’s good enough for us, let’s see what this creamy gem can do…

Built around an LM1458N IC, the Kenny B Double Double was inspired by the classic Timmy pedal, giving you anything from a boost to a strong overdrive without changing the overall character or architecture of your favorite amp’s tone. Think of it as “your amp just more” pedal. There are four knobs for Volume, Bass, Gain and Treble, plus a three-way clipping switch that cover a range of styles. You have the choice of three clipping patterns, two symmetrical (switch middle, switch top) and one asymmetrical (switch bottom). Whether you need a boost to your amp or a more compressed and saturated sound for fat chords, the Double Double does the job right.

True bypass and hand-built in Winnipeg, Canada, Kenny B Pedals have a simple look, but surprise with the tones they produce (check out our reviews on their Sunn Model T, Klone and William Overdrive as well) and their affordable price points. Basic in aesthetics but not in sound, the Double Double is an excellent addition to any pedalboard, as a boost, light drive or something a bit heavier. Be sure to visit Kenny B Pedals on Reverb, and don’t sleep on our demo of this rocker below, either – cheers!

Kenny B: “I am passionate about making great sounding handmade pedals for a good price. I do not spend time on the artwork for the pedal, as I feel what is on the inside is much more important then what is on the outside. If you want a pedal with amazing graphics I’m probably not the person you want to purchase a pedal from.”
