Pedal of the Day here! After the wonderful echoes of the Delay Llama Xtreme and the vintage glory of the Ripply Fall, we’re bringing you our third piece of gear from JAM Pedals in as many months – the Harmonious Monk Tremolo. A collaboration with Mick and Dan from That Pedal Show, this modulated beauty combines 2 types of tremolo into one space-saving box, complete with 2 tremolo speeds, internal adjustments, selectable LFOs and more. Get ready, we’re going on another sonic journey…
Tremolo can be a subtle effect is you like, or an all-encompassing sound that takes over your entire signal. The Harmonious Monk is excellent at both, using a nice control section to let you explore the nuances of this effect. Speed and Depth are standard here, as usual, with a second footswitch allowing you to double your current speed instantly. Level sets your output, while Mix blends your wet and dry signals to taste.
You can select between Harmonic and Amplitude modes, with each providing a different sonic flavor. With these modes and the Subtle (-) and Intense (+) toggle switch, you have 4 core modes to experiment with, leading to just about any trem sound you’re after. Staccato pulses, fast warbles, signal widening with a hint of modulation…they’re all here, waiting to be discovered.
Producing sounds not unlike a phaser at times, the Harmonious Monk is one of the most versatile tremolos we’ve come across yet. Covering a huge amount of sonic ground, it will inspire you towards a whole new palette of sounds, textures and music. You can even use internal trimmers to adjust EQ and Boost as well, for even more ability to dial it in specifically for your rig. Another wonderful pedal from JAM Pedals, with the help of That Pedal Show – we love the Harmonious Monk! Be sure to check out both of these guys’ websites for more info, and more pedals, and more music – and don’t forget to peruse our demo, of course!!
